Every morning, Lorraine Saylor put out bird seed in her yard for wild birds. "She was out taking care of animals, and a very unfortunate set of circumstances happened and she lost her life," Bell County Coroner Jay Steele said. Just before 11 a.m. Sunday, Lorraine and her husband Johnny were attacked, Steele said, by two pit bulls.
A man has been arrested for a November shooting that sent one man to the hospital. Tow truck driver shot after parking lot dispute. Police arrested 43-year-old Dylan Leslie of Louisville on Saturday on a first-degree assault charge after he allegedly shot a tow truck driver following a dispute in a Thornton's parking lot. Police were called to the Thorntons at the corner of Bardstown Road and Goldsmith Lane around 1 a.m. on Nov. 16.
Lexington police say a teenager has been charged in connection with four gas station robberies. The 16-year-old boy, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, is charged with three counts of first-degree robbery and one count of attempted robbery.

Police in Newport believe they have the suspected murder weapon in the death of a taxi driver. The driver, David DePhillips, 38, was shot and killed on Tuesday, Dec. 12, with a passenger in the car. In an attempt to escape, he crashed about a block away on Washington Avenue. DePhillips was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead, according to police. The passenger was not hurt.
