An early morning car accident has left one dead and one in critical condition. Officers responded to a call on the collision at 4 a.m. on Saturday. The accident was in the 2700 block of Algonquin Parkway.
A man has been charged with arson after admitting to intentionally setting an apartment building on fire. According to an arrest slip, Joshua Gregory, 22, started the fire to an occupied apartment building by placing a blanket on a stove top and turning the burners on.
Fire crews in Pikeville say they have put out a fire at the Jenny Wiley Theater downtown. Officials said it started when performers were practicing pyrotechnics and the stage caught fire. Crews were able to put out the fire and said they will have to remove the stage. A team is coming to the theater to handle smoke and water damage
A Louisville police detective was injured in a shooting during a traffic stop as officers shot and killed one suspect and wounded another in a neighborhood in the eastern part of the city. Louisville Police Chief Steve Conrad says the officer, a narcotics detective, was struck in the head during an “exchange of gunfire.”
A man is dead after a crash in Independence late Wednesday. The crash was reported just before 11 p.m. on Taylor Mill Road near Stephens Road. Officers said two vehicles collided head-on.
A Scott County man was sentenced to nearly 25 years in jail for dealing drugs. Larry West was convicted this week of dealing methamphetamine.
Louisville Metro Police are investigating a shooting in the Portland neighborhood. A MetroSafe dispatcher says it happened in the 2700 block of West Main Street near North 26th Street. A call about the shooting was received Sunday around 7:30 a.m.

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin has confirmed that one person has died in a shooting at Marshall County High School. Bevin said that the suspected shooter is in custody. Multiple other people were also reportedly wounded.

An arrest has be made in the shooting death of two Louisville men. Louisville Metro Police detectives say Aaron Hernandez, 23, was arrested Saturday in Fayette County, Texas. He is charged with two counts of murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Police said a fourth suspect has been arrested and charged with the murder of a man found dead inside a toolbox floating in a creek. Melanie Howard was taken into custody on Friday. She has been charged with murder, kidnapping, tampering with physical evidence and unlawful imprisonment in connection to the death of Tromain Mackall, 29.
A woman is facing charges after allegedly attacking Lexington police officers. It happened just before 5 a.m. Saturday on Lakeshore Drive. According to the arrest citation, officers found Kellie Day swaying back and forth, unaware of her location. They arrested her for public intoxication.
Three children were struck by a vehicle at William Harrison Park. The accident happened at 3:30 p.m. According to a police, the driver of a Ford pickup truck was driving northbound on Oleanda Avenue and for some unknown reason, lost control of the vehicle and struck the children playing at the playground, as well as playground equipment.
Louisville Metro police is investigating a deadly shooting on the 4900 block of Poplar Level Road. The shooting happened before 4:45 p.m. Police said the man was found in a pickup truck in a gas station parking lot. He had been shot multiple times and died at University Hospital.

A woman is dead after a crash on Saturday in Bourbon County. The Bourbon County Coroner says Drema Robinette, 48, of Scott Depot, West Virginia, was pronounced dead at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday
